It has often been seen that thyroid patients are getting their treatment done, but in their diet, they are consuming those things which are unhealthy for them i.e. harmful, due to which their thyroid is not controlled even after taking medicines. . Do not consume those things which are helpful in controlling thyroid disease. The reason for this is that they have to say, “What is a diet in thyroid disease? What is apathy? That is, what should be eaten? What should not be eaten?” There is no information regarding this. In this article, light is being thrown in this regard, which can be very beneficial for thyroid patients after studying and getting information about it.

There are two types of thyroid – hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism. 

In hypothyroidism disease, due to reduced activity of the thyroid gland, the thyroid gland is not able to make enough thyroid hormone, due to which there is a deficiency of thyroid hormone in the body. A person suffering from this disease should eat things that increase thyroid hormone and things that decrease thyroid hormone should not be consumed.

In hyperthyroidism disease, due to the increased activity of the thyroid gland, the thyroid gland starts producing thyroid hormone in excess, due to which the thyroid hormone increases in the body. A person suffering from this disease should eat things that decrease thyroid hormone and those things which increase thyroid hormone should not be consumed.

  • Take regular intake of whole and coarse grains (sorghum, bran flour, brown rice, porridge, multigrain bread).

  • High protein foods increase thyroid hormones. Consume 50 grams of protein-rich foods like moong dal, gram lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans daily in the diet. Eat fish, chicken, eggs.
  • Consume foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as two to three walnuts, sunflower seeds. Eat sardine fish, salmon fish. You can take fish oil.

  • Minimize the intake of iodized foods (fishes, kidney beans, brown rice, milk, spinach, raisins, eggs, garlic, mushrooms, curd, potatoes, iodized salt).
  • Do not consume junk food.
  • Do not drink water in between meals. Drink normal temperature water only after half an hour of meals. Do not drink too much cold water. If you feel thirsty in between meals, you can drink buttermilk. Do not drink water even before a meal. drink water half an hour before meals
